About me

MDSW_Alisa_Bunny

Right now I’m a graduate student studying medieval European history in New York City. I’m also a recent library school graduate who focused on rare books and special collections. I grew up in Brooklyn, so it’s really nice to be back in the city.

I knit, spin, and quilt, and occasionally sew smaller projects.  I learned to knit and sew from my grandmother as a child (I hated knitting so much) and picked knitting up again in college. Spinning I more or less taught myself, also in college, thanks to stubbornness and the internet. Quilting is what’s really bitten me right now, and I really only started quilting in the winter of 2011-2012.

I have two spinning wheels and one sewing machine, and more knitting needles than I probably really need.  My yarn, fiber and fabric stash is large enough that I think I’m probably well supplied for the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse.

My header image is the wheel of my Ashford Traditional wheel, which I took apart and then sanded and re-finished with Tung oil when I moved to Indiana in 2009.
